Angling licences are required by all anglers age 16 and over.
Anglers under the age of 16 do not require a licence to fish and may legally take their own limit of fish, but only if they catch the fish themselves.
Native people, as defined and required under section 12 of the Natural Resource Transfer Agreement, do not require a licence for subsistence fishing.

Exporting fish, any one taking fish out of Saskatchewan must posses a valid Saskatchewan angling licence. Non-resident anglers returning to the U.S. from Saskatchewan note it is prohibited to import any fish in violation of Canadian or American Laws. People from other countries must obey the laws of their countries on importing when returning home.
Do not transfer live fish, it is illegal to transfer live fish. Introduced fish species can upset the balance of waterbodies and cause loss of fishing opportunities in the province.
It is illegal to use live minnows, frogs, salamaders in Saskatchewan. Commercially frozen minnows, leeches, dew worms, worms, insects can be used but must originate in Saskatchewan. Importing any bait is illegal.
Bow fishing is allowed for suckers and carp only, but cannot be used in any provincial, regional park or provincial recreation site. Cannot bow fish for any game fish species.
Underwater Spearfishing can be done by anyone in possesion of a valid Saskatchewan fishing licence. Must be done underwater by submerged divers and fishing limits established apply. Any fish shot by spear gun must be kept none can be released.
General Limit Information:
Angler’s may catch a limit of each fish species in a single day. For example one angler can have 6 Pike, 5 Walleye, 25 Perch and each fish species single limit in his possession. Daily limit includes fish that are eaten or given away that day. The daily limit is also your possession limit and you can not possess more than one limit of each fish at one time. Example, you go fishing for the weekend, on the Friday you arrive you go out and catch and keep 5 walleye and you eat 2 of them that evening. The next day you go out fishing, YOU can ONLY KEEP 2 WALLEYE as you still have 3 at camp. Fish at your camp, being transported for or by you, stored by or for you by someone else are counted towards your possession limit. This also includes day fishing trips. If you happen to live close to fishing lakes and travel to the lake for a day trip, fishing was great and you return home early, you caught, kept and cleaned 5 walleye, and put them in the deep freeze, then decide because the fishing was good or decide to go with another buddy that evening, you already have a possession limit in your deepfreeze and legally cannot keep more walleye.
Regular Angling Limits:
Anglers may catch a limit for each fish species in a single day.
Daily limits include fish that are eaten or given away that same day.
